This report outlines recommendations and a summary of views and ideas obtained from unemployed youth, students, youth service providers, small business, large business, not-for-profits and other institutions in Melbourne’s western region at a series of workshops undertaken between December 2018 and April 2019. The report aligns with Youth Now’s mission statement and ongoing role to develop new programs and services to achieve more effective employment outcomes for unemployed young people in the west.

Strawberry Farm Funding

Following years of research and proof of concept, Markstone assisted its client to secure $6 million in grant offers from the Commonwealth and two state governments to establish unique facilities to achieve the world’s first 365 day production of strawberries in a hot house environment.
Regional Rail Project Advocacy

Working with Brimbank, Melton, Moonee Valley, Maribyrnong, Hobsons Bay and Wyndham Councils, Leadwest and Victorian Government Markstone provided coordination, facilitation and contributed to strategy to secure $3.2 billion allocation from the Rudd Government to construct the Regional Rail Project, a centerpiece commitment in the GFC stimulus budget.
First Mainland NBN Rollout Advocacy

Working with Northlink, Moreland, Darebiin, Yarra, Nillumbik, Hume, Whittlesea and Banyule Councils and NEC Markstone provided coordination, facilitation and contributed to development of Australia’s first digital economy strategy to secure Gillard Government and NBN support for the first mainland fibre-to-the-home rollout to occur in Brunswick, in Melbourne’s northern suburbs.
